William "Bill" Averkamp, 44, of Canyon Lake, TX, formerly of Menominee, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015, as a result of an accident at home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 A/M, on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, in San Antonio, TX. There will also be a Memorial Celebration of Bill's life from 5:30 P/M to 8 P/M, on this Thursday, for relative's and friends at "The Taste" on Highway 20, rural Menominee.
The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, is serving the family.
Bill was born on July 1, 1971, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Dorrance A. and Susan F. (Holland) Averkamp.
He was a 90% disabled Naval SeeBee veteran who served in Iraq and Kuwait and did three (3) tours at the Mexican border. He loved watching the Picker's reality TV show and the History channel; was a browser on Craigslist. Bill loved his country and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Ann Averkamp, of Canyon Lake, TX; his son, Cody David Averkamp; two (2) step-children, Tabatha and Zachary; his father, Dorrance A. Averkamp; his siblings, Kevin (Jennifer) Averkamp, Vince (Beatrice) Averkamp and Joyce Averkamp; and his maternal grandfather, Larry Holland, all of Menominee, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan; his first wife and Cody's mother, Sue (Williams) Averkamp; his maternal grandmother, Frances Holland; and his paternal grandparents, Art & Loretta Averkamp.
