Virginia A. "Ginny" Hoppman, 83, of Menominee, IL, passed away into eternal peace on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Nativity BVM Church at Menominee, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2:45 P/M.
Virginia was born on October 1, 1929, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Peter and Martha (Spielbauer) Duehr. She married Lloyd J. Hoppman on January 19, 1952, at Sacred Heart Church, Dubuque.
Ginny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Lloyd raised 11 children on their family farm near Menominee. Over the years she enjoyed golfing, bowling, and camping, especially the annual family camping trip to Sugar Bottom. She was a member of Nativity BVM Parish.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd; ten children, Susan (Roger) Anderson, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Richard (Brenda Metcalf) Hoppman, of Menominee, IL, Sharon (Randy) Saffron, of LaPalma, CA, Tom (Peggy) Hoppman, Tim (Chris) Hoppman, and Don Hoppman, all of Menominee, IL, Ann (Jim) Burke, of Prophetstown, IL, Mike (Nicole Leick) Hoppman, of Galena, IL, Gerry (Chris) Hoppman and Karen (Keith) Knockel, both of Menonimee, IL; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Hoppman, of East Dubuque, IL; 29 Grandchildren; 23 Great-Grandchildren; a sister, Velma Hoppman, of Dubuque, IA; her in-laws, Paul (Cal) Hoppman, of Dubuque, IA, Doris Hoppman, of Menominee, IL, John (Sherri Tomkins) Hoppman, of Hazel Green, WI, and Maryann Tuegel, of Rockford, IL.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David; a great-grandson, Dylan Howell; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Philip and Genevieve Hoppman; a sister, Rita (Ray) Leppert; a brother, Bill (Isabelle) Duehr; in-laws, Virgil, Jim, and Tom Hoppman, Charlie (Phyllis) Hoppman, Philip Hoppman, and Bob Tuegel.
Lloyd and family wish to extend a "special thank-you" to the staff at Hospice of Dubuque and Dr. Christian Schultheis, for the excellent care provided to their wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother!
