Verena R. Handfelt, 103, of Menominee, IL, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, at The Villa at Middleton Village, Middleton, WI.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Nativity BVM Church, Menominee, IL, with Fr. Stephen Lundgren officiating.  Burial will be in the Nativity BVM Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:45 A/M, on Wednesday, at Nativity BVM Church, where the St. Ann's Society will recite the rosary at 10 A/M.

Verena was born on August 30, 1915, in Menominee Township, of Jo Daviess County, IL, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Imbus) Handfelt.

She was the oldest resident of Menominee, a life-time member of Nativity BVM Parish and its St. Ann's Society.

Verena worked at home and on the farm.  She did housework for area homes and worked at the Nativity BVM rectory for Fr. Al Fitzgibbons.

Surviving are a brother, Edwin Handfelt, of Waunakee, WI; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alvitus Handfelt; and a sister, Magdalen Delaney; sisters-in-law, Lucille Handfelt and Evelyn Handfelt; and a brother-in-law, Harry Delaney.

The Mller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, is serving the family.
