Velma J. Beschen, 78, of Galena, IL, formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away, peacefully, on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community, surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 P/M, on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, with Pastor Diane Grace officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 6 P/M, on Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home.

Velma was born on October 6, 1937, in Dickeyville, WI, the daughter of Loretta (Splinter) Burbach and Lawrence Frost. She married James C. Beschen on September 15, 1959, he preceded her in death on March 18, 1998.

Velma enjoyed camping, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren, and watching the Chicago White Sox.

Surviving are three (3) children, Debbie Bartram, Dean (Brenda) Beschen, both of East Dubuque, IL, and Deanna (Jason) Buck, of Rapid City, SD; she was the proud grandmother of nine (9) grandchildren and two (2) great-grandchildren.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, JIm; and a son, Carl Beschen.

The family would like to "thank" the Galena Stauss Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful care. The family would also like to express their sincere "thanks" to their family, friends and co-workers for all of their love and support.

In lieu of flowers, a Velma Beschen Memorial Fund has been established.
