Thomas J. "Tom" Noel, 68, of Dubuque, IA, passed away Monday afternoon, September 7, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be at 11 A/M, on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, with Deacon Jim Thill officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, IA.
Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, on Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, and from 10 A/M to 10:45 A/M, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Tom was born on April 13, 1947, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Carl and Alice (Rahe) Noel. He was a graduate of Wahlert High School, Class of 1965. He married Janet Wirzbach on October 6, 1973, at Sacred Heart Church, Dubuque, IA.
Tom was a member of the Air Force from 1966-1969, serving as an air traffic controller, in Germany and Vietnam. He was employed by Deere and Company, and was a member of United Auto Workers Union, Local #94.
Tom played baseball in his early years, bowled and was an avid golfer and pool player. His easy going personality gained him many friends during his lifetime.
Surviving are his wife, Janet; three (3) children, Travis Noel and Tara (Andrew) Trifone, of Dubuque, IA, and Tyler Noel, of Austin, TX; two (2) grandchildren, Logan and Adeline Trifone, of Dubuque, IA; his siblings, David Noel, of East Dubuque, IL, Carla (Dale) Ernst, of Dubuque, IA, Gary (Kathy) Noel, of Streamwood, IL, and Michael (Lisa) Noel, of Dubuque, IA; his in-laws, Robert (Susan) Miller, of Dubuque, IA, Robert (Jeanette) Wirzbach, of Dubuque, IA, Donald (Karen) Curler, of Dubuque, IA, Jean Wirzbach (Kate Hoover), of Roseville, MN, and Thomas (Angela) Wirzbach, of Dubuque, IA; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alice (Rahe) Noel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Mildred (Nauman) Wirzbach; and a nephew, Christopher Noel.
In lieu of flowers, a Thomas J. Noel Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of Hospice of Dubuque and the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Iowa City, IA.
Janet and family wish to "thank" Hospice of Dubuque, Dr. Mark Hermann and staff, and Dr. John Whalen and staff, for the wonderful care given to Tom over many years!
