Terry James Funston, 64, of 610 Wildwood, Mt. Zion, IL, formerly of Galena, IL, passed away at 10:25 A/M, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at home, with his family by his side.

Funeral Services will be at 10 A/M, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, IL with Rev Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, rural Galena.

Friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the funeral home.

Terry was born on January 16, 1948 in Hazel Green, WI, the son of David and Virginia (Dittmar) Funston. He was raised in Galena but just recently moved to Mt. Zion, IL to be closer to family. He married Kathy Vincent on June 21, 1969 at First Presbyterian Church, Galena, IL.

Terry grew up on a farm in Rice Township, worked in the kitchen at Chestnut Mountain Lodge through high school and was a graduate of the Class of 1966 of Galena High School.

Terry worked through the Laborers Union Local #727 until his retirement after 35 years. His job took him from East Dubuque to Rockford working in many different projects including construction of the U. S. 20 bridge in Galena.

Terry was an auctioneer for estate sales, benefits, fund raisers plus doing the Galena Rotary Youth Scholarship Auction for 25 years.

Terry loved the outdoors, either raising beef cattle or working in his yard.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Kathy (Vincent) Funston; his two sons, Jesse (Cindy Ortman) and their children, Ashley, Hannah and Ryan of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Cory and his daughter, Kaitlin, Mt. Zion, IL; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard and Joseph; aunts and uncles.
