Sofia P. Tsiftilis, 71, of DeKalb, IL, passed away peacefully at 2:55 P/M, on Friday, August 7, 2015, after a long five year battle with brain cancer, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Paula (Dino) Rigopoulos, of Galena, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11 A/M, on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, in Dekalb, with Fr. John Artemas officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, DeKalb.

Visitation will be from 5 P/M to 8 P/M, on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth Street, DeKalb.

Sofia was born on April 13, 1944, in Greece, the daughter of Anthony and Yanoula (Fountzoulas) Karagiannis. She was united in marriage to Pete Tsiftilis on September 25, 1966, in Greece, and came to America on December 25, 1966. Sofia and Pete previously lived in Chicago and have resided in DeKalb since August 3, 1971.

Surviving are her husband, Pete; four (4) children, Nick (Michelle) Tsiftilis, of St. Charles, IL, Tony (Ninette) Tsiftilis, and Chris Tsiftilis, both of DeKalb, IL, and Paula (Dino) Rigopoulos, of Galena, IL; eight (8) grandchildren, Pano, Foti, Jack, Yanna, Eva, Sophia, Gabby and Zoe; her siblings, Yota, Litsa and Chris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Yanoula.
