Sister Mary Virginia (Borgia) Meyerhofer, OSF, 87, of Francis House, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 3:05 P/M, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital, Dubuque, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 P/M, Saturday, December 7, 2013, in Francis Chapel with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, Friday, December 6, 2013, with a Wake Service at 7 P/M in Francis Chapel.

Sister was born on August 6, 1926, in Stacyville, IA, the daughter of John and Ida (Kremer) Meyerhofer.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1944, and made final profession of vows August 12, 1950. Sister ministered as an educator in the Iowa cities of Bancroft, Fillmore, Oyens, Holy Cross, Dyersville, Granville, and Sioux City (Briar Cliff College) and in Crescent City, California.

Sister is survived by her sisters, Martha Beland, Sister Nona and Sister Nila; her brother, Vern; her sister-in-law, Virginia; nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 68 years of her life.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Wilfred (Anna), Ambrose, Clem (Rose) and Marcellus; her sisters, Dolores (Albert) Von Feldt and Genevieve (Eugene) Bassler; her sister-in-law, Mary; and her brother-in-law, Bill Beland.

Memorial may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, IA.

The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
