Sister Norita Tranel, OSF, 91, of Clare House, Dubuque, IA, entered into eternal life at 4:15 A/M, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Clare House.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at 1 P/M, in Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Monday, January 30, 2017, with a Funeral Vigil at 7 P/M, in Francis Chapel.
She was born on August 2, 1925, in East Dubuque, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lucille (Kieffer) Tranel.
She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1941, and made final profession of vows on August 10, 1947. Sister was a homemaker in Haverhill, Dubuque and Sioux City in Iowa; Portland, Oregon; St. Mary's in Alaska; and Rockford, Woodstock, Galena and East Dubuque in Illinois.
Sister is survived by her brothers, Richard and Bert (Ann) her sisters, Marge Jahn, Sr. Betty Tranel, S.Sp.S, and Sr. Jean Tranel, OP; sisters-in-law, Virginia and Bonnie; nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared (74) years of her life.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Ralph (Florence), Howard (Lillian), Rev. Dorrance, Rev. Daniel, Ned and Roger; her sister, Sister Danita, OSF.
