Sister Helen Thompson, BVM (St. George), 85, of 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, IA, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Marian Hall.

Visitation will be from 1 P/M - 2 P/M, on Monday, September 10, 2018, in the Marian Hall Chapel.  Sharing of Memories will be at 2 P/M, followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial.  Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Sister Helen was an academic dean at Clarke University, in Dubuque, IA.  She taught at elementary schools in Chicago, IL, and San Jose, CA, and at colleges in Chicago, IL, and Berkeley, CA, where she also worked as an organizational consultant.

She was born on January 19, 1933, in San Francisco, CA, to Howard and Gertrude Riordan Thompson.  She entered the BVM congregation on February 2, 1951, from St. Brendan Parish, San Francisco.  She professed first vows on August 15, 1953, and final vows on August 15, 1958.

She was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by a brother, George, of Marathon, FL; and a nephew, Robert (Susan), of St. George, UT; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for (67) years.
