Obituary
Sister Mary Teresita Schafers, OSF, 86, of Clare House, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 3 P/M, Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 P/M, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 P/M to 7 P/M, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, with Wake Service at 7 P/M in Francis Chapel.
Sister Mary was born on June 27, 1926, in Stillwater, OK, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy (Spelman) Schafers.
Sister Mary entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1944, and made final profession of vows on August 12, 1950. Sister ministered in the Iowa cities of Petersburg, Holy Cross, Remsen, Guttenberg, Oelwein, and Waterloo; in the Illinois cities of Melrose Park, Midlothian, Chicago (Corpus Christi) and Momence; and in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Florida.
Surviving is her sister, Sr. Veronica; cousins; and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared 67 years of her life.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Fr. Herman; and her sister, Sr. Teresa.
Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, IA.
Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
