Sister Burnita (Peter) Kaschmitter, OSF, 86, of Clare House, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 1:15 A/M, Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Clare House.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 P/M, Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Francis Chapel, Dubuque, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, Monday, June 24, 2013, with a Wake Service at 7 P/M in Francis Chapel.

Sister was born on April 17, 1927, in Sheldon, IA, the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Kollasch) Kaschmitter.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1948, and made her final profession of vows on August 10, 1954. Sister ministered in the Iowa cities of Dubuque (Xavier Hospital, Mary of the Angels), Sioux City, Dyersville and Stacyville. She also served in Emporia and Kansas City, KS. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis Governing Board from 1980-1986.

Sister is survived by her sisters, Jane Kelly and Joan (Paul) Nelson; her brother, Matthew (Sharon); nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared 63 years of her life.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, James Kelly.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, IA.

Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
