Sister Debra Mika, OP, died November 6, 2023, at St. Dominic Villa in Hazel Green, Wis. Her funeral liturgy will be Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Dominic Villa at 10 A/M. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Sinsinawa, WI.

The Miller Funeral Home, of East Dubuque, is handling arrangements.

Debra Lynn Mika, was born July 5, 1948, to Donald and Jeanne (Trefethen) Mika. She was their one cherished child. Sister Debra is survived by extended family, her Sinsinawa Dominican family and friends. On her application for entrance into the Dominican Order, Debra hoped she could offer her life of service in the field of nursing at either the Villa or the Motherhouse. Over the years she was able to do both. She served in Iowa and Wisconsin. She received a degree in nursing in Chicago and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Aquinas Institute in St. Louis. Sister Debra was a competent member of the nurse management team at the Villa for 22 years and served in pastoral ministry at Sinsinawa for four years. In her later years, she was a capable librarian at Sinsinawa Mound and a caregiver to her parents. Her faithful ways to the Gospel message were clear. May she know peace and joy. Debra, go quietly and warmly into the ever loving ways of God.
