Sister Marie Kevin Claybaugh, OP, passed away on May 6, 2017, at St. Dominic Villa.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A/M, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Sinsinawa. Friends may call after 5:15 P/M, on Tuesday, at Sinsinawa, where a remembering service will take place at 6:30 P/M.
She taught in primary grades for the first forty (40) years of her ministry. During 1941 she was at Annunciation School in Minneapolis. For the next seven (7) years she taught at St. Peter School, Oshkosh; and for the next nine (9) years in Chicago at St. Sabina School. In 1957 she taught at St. Cecilia School in Omaha for one (1) year, and then returned to Chicago to teach at Visitation Grade School for ten (10) years. Her next two assignments were also in Chicago, first at Epiphany School for one (1) year; then at St. Basil School for twelve (12) years. In 1981 she served at Queen of Peace Ministry Center in Burbank, IL. In 1991 and 1992, she supported community life at St. Cajetan Convent in Chicago, before moving in 1993 to St. John Fisher Convent, Chicago, her last mission before returning to Sinsinawa in the fall of 2000.
She joined the St. Dominic Villa community in June of 2006.
Sister Marie Kevin was born in Toulon, IL, on June 25, 1914, to Claude and Mary (Westerfield) Claybaugh, and is survived by nieces, a nephew, cousins, and her Dominican Sisters.
The Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
