Sister Annette George, OSF, 74, of Francis House, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 12:27 P/M, on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 1 P/M, in Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, with a Funeral Vigil at 7 P/M, in Francis Chapel.
Sister Annette was born on January 27, 1943, in Ft. Dodge, IA, the daughter of Albert and Anna Regina (McDermott) George.
Sister entered the Sisters of St. Francis on September 3, 1965, and made final profession of vows on December 1, 1974. Sister was a teacher, campus minister, and resident hall rector.
She served at Beckman High School, in Dyersville, IA; Briar Cliff College, in Sioux City, IA; Kuemper High School, in Carroll, IA; Notre Dame University, in Indiana; and Quincy College, in Illinois. She also served on the Leadership Team for the Sisters of St. Francis, in Dubuque, IA, for six (6) years. Most recently she served on the staff of Clare House, in Dubuque.
Sister is survived by her sisters, Teresa Nasers, Alberta Walling, Rita (Duane) Stein, Helen Bormann, Alice Silverstrand and Eileen (Hugh) Manhart; nieces and nephews; and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared fifty (50) years of her life.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Margaret (Gene) Stein; brothers-in-law, Glen Nasers, Dick Walling, Jim Bormann and Larry Silverstrand.
Memorial may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, in Dubuque, IA.
