Obituary

Sister Catherine Cox, OP, died at St. Dominic Villa, May 15, 2022.  Funeral Services will be held at Sinsinawa, May19-20.

The Miller Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Catherine was born, at home, to Everett Dale and Anna Marie (Joyce) Cox on October 5, 1941, in Hazel Green, WI.  She was the youngest of six children.  She is survived by a sister, Carol Ann McPheeters, nieces, nephews and the Dominican Sisters.  As a Sinsinawa Dominican, Sister Catherine began a llfetime of teaching.  She loved children in the primary grades most of all.  She taught at the following Chicagoland Catholic schools: St. Thomas More, St. Luke's (River Forest), St. Barnabas, St. Isaac Jogues (Brookfield). Sister Catherine was also a counselor, a principal at St. Zachary (Elk Grove Village) and St. Hugh (Brookfield). She spent time as an administrator for the diocese of Joliet.  She was a volunteer at St. Isaac Jogues until she retired in 2016.  She lived for a time at Sinsinawa, in Madison and at St. Dominic Villa. If children were visiting you could be sure that Sister Catherine was in the area.  She loved to laugh and play and delight in the lives of the young.  She was most at peace in their presence.

Catherine, live now in peace.  You are a child of God.
