Obituary

Sister Mary Ann Hackenmiller, OSF, 89, of Clare House, 3390 Windsor Avenue, Dubuque, IA, passed away at 3:45 P/M, on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Clare House.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 P/M, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, in Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, with a wake service at 7 P/M in Francis Chapel.

Sister Mary was born on May 28, 1925 in Stacyville, IA, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Merten) Hackenmiller.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1944, and made final profession of vows on August 12, 1950. Sister ministered as an educator in the Iowa cities of Dubuque, (Sacred Heart), Ricksardsville, New Hampton, and Dyersville. She also ministered at Corpus Chrisi in Chicago, IL, Mt. Vernon, Buffalo and Springfield in Missouri. She retired to Mt. St. Francis in 2011.

Sister is survived by nephews and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared 70 years of her life.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Hubert (Doris) Raymond (Angela), Clarence (Angela); her sisters, Isabel (Paul) Smith, Eleanor (Elmo) Kramer and Magdelena (Clarence) Miller.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, Dubuque, IA.

The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
