Obituary
Sister Marie Amanda Allard, OP, died October 7, 2018. Her funeral Mass at the Sinsinawa Motherhouse will be at 10:30 A/M, on Friday, October 12, 2018. The Wake Service will be at 6:30 P/M, on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
She was elected Prioress of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters in 1967, serving two terms in leadership.
After profession, she taught at Epiphany School, Chicago, IL, for six years, and at St. Cecilia Cathedral High School - 1956-1959. She was principal at Regina High School, Minneapolis, MN, - 1956-1959, and at Bishop Lynch High School, in Dallas TX, - 1979-1982. She mininistered in the Diocese of Tulsa, OK, from 1982-2001, as Director of Education, and as director of both permanent diaconate formation and lay ministry formation. She returned to Sinsinawa in 2006 and joined the community at St. Dominic Villa in 2014.
Sister Marie Amanda (Margaret) was born February 11, 1927, in Kewanee, IL, to John and Amanda (Matthys) Allard. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters.
The Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
