Sherrie A. Werner, 74, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 12, 2024, at home.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be held at 3:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Ediberto Jarapa officiating. Following mass burial will be held in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Sherrie was born on June 11, 1950, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Donald and Mary Lou (Wittstock) Eigenberger. She was a graduate of Wahlert High School, the Class of 1968. She was united in marriage to Martin H. "Marty" Werner, on October 2, 1971, at St. Patrick's Church in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2021.

After graduating, Sherrie was employed at Demetri's Restaurant as a waitress, where she met the love of her life - Marty.  After marriage she was a homemaker and raised their two daughters.  Later in life, Sherrie was a teacher for the Y Care Program in the East Dubuque and Dubuque schools for 10 years.  In the summer she worked with her daughter, Laurie, and grandson, Zack, in the adventure programs for Dubuque Leisure Services.

Sherrie was a great storyteller and enjoyed a good joke as she had a witty sense of humor.  She was a frequent visitor to the East Dubuque Library, she was an avid reader and loved collecting books. Sherrie had a close bond with her Mom and they enjoyed going out to lunch, shopping, bowling, and attending numerous concerts and ice shows.  She recently became a Kansas City Chief's fan and loved the Kelce Brothers and Taylor Swift. Her favorite singer was Garth Brooks and recently her wish came true when she saw him perform Live in Las Vegas with her daughters, Laurie and Kim.

Surviving are two daughters, Laurie (Tavis) Virtue and Kim (Tony) Walker, both of Dubuque, IA; five grandchildren, Zack (Allie), Lydia, Gideon, Kallie and Kira; one sister, MaryLynn (Rick) Donovan; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Eigenberger, both of Dubuque, IA; in-laws, Ron (Sue) Werner, of Davenport, IA, and Kathy Ousley, of Dubuque, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary Lou; her husband, Marty; and a brother, Donald Eigenberger.

Sherrie's family wishes to thank the East Dubuque Area Ambulance members, and Mickey and Cody from the East Dubuque Police Department for the kind and compassionate care given to Sherrie and her family.
