Sharon was born May 25, 1950, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Ray and Helen (Helbing) Jansen. She married Tom Runde, on August 30, 1969, and Tom and Sharon shared more than 55 loving years together.
Sharon worked at Sinsinawa Mound as an administrative assistant and later at Premier Bank in data processing until her retirement. Sharon loved spending time with family, and especially with their grandchildren. To her grandkids, Grandma and Grandpa's house was always their second home, and Sharon always held a special place in her big heart for them. Grandma was always in the stands cheering them on at their football games and volleyball and wrestling matches—and she never missed the chance to be there for them in moments big and small. In addition to being a devoted Grandma, she was also a dedicated Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan.
Sharon is survived by her husband,Tom; and their children, Jeff (Corissa) Runde and Julie (Aaron) Leibfried; and their grandchildren, Derek, Troy and Emma Leibfried and Ben Runde. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Burbach; a brother, Ken Jansen; in-laws Joe Burbach, Milton Gotzinger, Julie Jansen, Jeannette (George) Rieder and Ron (Marian) Runde; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Hilary Wiederholt; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Carl Runde; brothers, Virgil Jansen and Donald Jansen; sister, Jeannette Gotzinger; in-laws Bernadette Jansen, Sally Jansen, Phyliss Runde, and Linus and Lucy Runde; nephews, Paul Jansen, Brian Jansen and Tony Burbach; and grandson, Adam Runde.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Runde and the staff at Mercy One, along with Hospice of Dubuque, for their professional and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, a Sharon A. Runde memorial fund has been established.
