Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, and from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m., on Thursday, at the church prior to Mass.
Sharon is the eldest of four daughters born to Robert and Edna (Hoftender) Bauer of Menominee, Illinois, and was born on March 13, 1955, in Dubuque, IA.
Sharon graduated from Galena High School in 1973 and then attended Clinton Community College, in Clinton, IA, where she completed Clerical Training. She did bookkeeping and clerical work for Nativity BVM Parish in Menominee, IL, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Savanna, as well as other businesses such as Farmer's Exchange, in Galena, and Economy Fire & Casualty Insurance, in Freeport. She also enjoyed working at Farm & Fleet, in Dubuque, with her daughter, Samantha.
Sharon's greatest joy in life was to be a mother. She married Wayne Law, of Savanna, IL, on November 20, 1993. Together they traveled twice to Ukraine – first in 2003 when they met and adopted their daughter, Samantha, and then their second trip in 2004 to meet and adopt their son, Andrew.
Sharon had a tremendous love for cats, which greatly filled the void until her children arrived and for many years thereafter. Wonderful childhood memories were made for Sharon when she and her three younger sisters were taught by their mom, Edna, to cook and bake many family favorites recipes, especially frosted cut-out sugar cookies and homemade sage dressing for Thanksgiving. Sharon carried on her mother's legacy for many years by canning pears from their pear trees and freezing many bags of sweet corn each year from the farm. Sharon and her sisters also loved when their family went to weekly parades and carnivals every summer while their dad, Robert, played the bugle and marched as a member of the East Dubuque Drum & Bugle Corp. Fond memories were made when grandchildren came into the Bauer Family and we would all play the boardgame 'Sequence" (Gpa Robert's favorite) and the card game 'UNO'.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Wayne Law; daughter, Samantha (Justin) Kitelinger; son, Andrew Law; sisters, Karen (Mark) Heiderscheit, Brenda (Bob) Spoerl, and Darlene (Jerry) Stetter; father-in-law, Vernon Law; sister-in-law, Barbara Law; nephew/Godson, Tim Heiderscheit; niece, Kaylin Wagner; nephews,, Matt (Alli) Wagner, Daniel Wagner, and Alex Spoerl; great-nephews, Beck and Abbott Wagner; aunts, Charlotte (Bauer) Heitkamp, Lillian (Bauer) VanNatta, and Betty (Hoff) Bauer; many cousins, bestest 1st cousin, Janet (Hoftender) Ricke; special new friend, Mary Jane Moore.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edna Bauer; mother-in-law, Thelma Law; maternal grandparents, John and Mathilda (Sharon's Godmother) Hoftender; paternal grandparents, Albert (Sharon's Godfather) and Ethelyn Bauer.
Special thanks to Jessica and her team from Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care and concern for Sharon this past month, and extra special thanks for the care and loving kindness provided by Janet (Hoftender) Ricke and Mary Jane Moore who were true angels that visited Sharon several times for many hours the past couple of months, making Sharon laugh, bringing her home-baked goods, and especially for Mary Jane's tender heart in giving Sharon a stuffed kitten that she treasured and held all the time up until her very last breath.
