Robert L. "Bob" Kramer, 73, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 12:05 P/M, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Lee Memorial Health Park Medical Center, Ft. Myers, FL, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, with Rev. Jim Parker officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by members of East Dubuque Legion Post #787.
Friends may call from 2 P/M to 8 P/M, Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 2 P/M and members of American Legion Post #787 will meet at 6:30 P/M. Friends may also call from 9 A/M to 10 A/M, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Bob was born near New Vienna, IA, the son of Leo H. and Camilla (Kluesner) Kramer. He married Janet M. Maiers on February 5, 1966, at the Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross, IA.
Bob was a member of St. Mary's Parish and its Holy Name Society, the American Legion Post #787, the Moose Club of America, and an associate member of the V.F.W. He served on the East Dubuque City Council for six years.
Bob worked at the former Dubuque Packing Company for 31 years and then started his own business, Kramer Carpet Cleaning, over 30 years ago.
Bob was a kind, caring & loving husband, father, grandfather and "Papa". He loved the game of golf and his Honda Goldwing Trike. His family was his greatest love.
Bob touched the heart of everyone he met, worked for, worked with, and had fun with. He left a legacy and great example for his family to be proud of.
Surviving are his wife, Jan; two sons, Rob (Lynn) Kramer, of East Dubuque, IL, and Russ (Meggan) Kramer, of Dubuque, IA; Rob's children, Lyndsay & Jacob Kramer, Russ's children, Nolan, Katie, Ryan, Eva & Broedy Kramer; a brother, Jack (Rosie) Kramer, of New Vienna, IA; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews;and his mother-in-law, Lucille Maiers, of Holy Cross, IA.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Leo H. Kramer; his mother, Camilla (Kluesner) Kramer; a brother, Jerold Kramer; a sister, Gladys Oberbroeckling; precious granddaughter, Jenna; and father-in-law, Clarence Maiers.
A Robert L. "Bob" Kramer Memorial Fund has been established.
