Obituary

Robert H. "Bob" Heitkamp, 97, of East Dubuque, IL, and formerly of Menominee, IL, passed away at 7:06 A/M, Thursday, April 13, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, with Fr. Jim Parker officiating. Burial will be in Nativity BVM Cemetery, Menominee.

Friends may call from 2 P/M to 8 P/M, Sunday, April 14, 2013, and from 9 A/M to 10 A/M, Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish rosary and scripture service will be at 2 P/M, Sunday.

Robert was born on June 2, 1915, on the family farm in Menominee Township of Jo Daviess County, IL, the son of Joseph and Irene (Fleege) Heitkamp. He married Margaret M. Runde on August 27, 1940, at St. Francis de Sales Church at Hazel Green, WI. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2005.

Robert and Margaret were blessed with almost 65 years of marriage and four children. Robert and Margaret farmed until their retirement. Bob then worked for the Sinsinawa Dominicans for 22 years. He enjoyed a good game of cards, especially euchre, his daily trips to the farm and visiting with family and friends.

Bob was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a former member of Nativity BVM Parish, Menominee.

Surviving are four children, Gerald (Charlotte) Heitkamp and Merlin (Linda) Heitkamp, of Menominee, IL, Lois (Robert) Wagner, of Asbury, IA, and Dennis Heitkamp (and special friend, June Traul) of East Dubuque, IL; ten grandchildren, Michelle Driscoll, Tom Heitkamp, Jeff Heitkamp, Patty Madsen, Terry Heitkamp, Cheri Kolkovich, Keri Gockel, Jason Heitkamp, Lisa Neyens, and Chelsea Heitkamp; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Caitlin & Makayla Madsen, Nolan & Tyler Kolkovich, Doug Heitkamp, Dustin & Alexa Heitkamp, Mia Jo & Owen Heitkamp, Brody Heitkamp, and Faith & Meredith Gockel; three step great-grandchildren, John & Katrina Clancy, Sarah (Nick) Tepper; a step great great-grandson, Tyson Tepper; and a step great great-granddaughter, Lilly Clancy; a brother, Jim (LaVonne) Heitkamp, of Menominee, IL; and a sister, Germaine Robinson, of Savanna, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Berning and Monica Houttaker; three brothers-in-law, Ed Berning, Clarence Houtakker, and Hubert Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, a Robert Heitkamp Memorial Fund has been established.
