Obituary

Robert W. "Bob" Beitzel, 85, of Dickeyville, WI, passed away, on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Ennoble Manor Care Center, in Dubuque, IA.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, in Dickeyville, with Fr. Berrnard Rott and Fr. Jack Paisley concelebrating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, at Asbury, IA, with military honors accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Visitation is from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish scripture service will be at 2:45 P/M. Visitation will also be from 9:15 A/M to 10:15 A/M, on Thursday, at the church.

Bob was born on February 2, 1931, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Albert and Stella (Jochum) Beitzel. He was united in marriage to RoseAnne Rinehart on August 28, 1954. She preceded him in death on February 1, 1970. He later married Elsie (Juergens) Klaas on September 2, 1980, at St. Patrick's Church, in Dubuque.

Bob previously worked for Fred Jackson Tuckpointing Company. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U. S. Army. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #510, of Dubuque, and Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville. He loved to travel, play cards and enjoyed woodworking. One of Bob's most enjoyable moments, was when he was able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. with his niece, Sherry Hinz, as his guardian.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie; two (2) daughters, Brenda (Gerald) Leppert, of East Dubuque, IL, and Joanna (Curt) (Sheehan) Block, of Dubuque, IA; six (6) grandchildren; ten (10) great-grandchildren; his step-children, Mary Davidson, Kathryn (Vernon) Tranel, Bill Klaas, Gary (Jacki) Klaas and Joseph (Susan) Klaas; thirteen (13) step-grandchildren; nine (9) step-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Pete (Betty) Beitzel, Mary Lou (Bob) Schauer, Jean (Louis) Sigwarth and Pat (Ted) Lightcaps.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tina Marie Stoltz; two (2) sisters, Rita (Harry) Thielen and Katie (Ike) Lakeman; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Beitzel; a brother-in-law, Alan Jackson; a step-son, Thomas Klaas; and a great-granddaughter, Layne Leppert.

A Robert W. "Bob" Beitzel Memorial Fund has been established.
