Richard P. "Rick" Hoppman, 59, of Menominee, IL, passed away into eternal peace on Monday, April 14, 2014, at home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Menominee, with Fr. Francis Steffen officiating. Burial will be in Nativity BVM Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, on Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2:45 P/M.
Rick was born on September 14, 1954, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Lloyd and Virginia (Duehr) Hoppman.
He owned/operated Hoppman Trucking for more than 25 years. Rick looked forward to the annual Sugar Bottom camping trip with the whole Hoppman clan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially having cookouts and going to his grandkid's ball games. Tinkering in his garage was a true passion and he was a master of fixing anything with caulk.
Surviving are his three (3) children, Lynn (Tom) Sheehan, of Hazel Green, WI, Heidi Hoppman, of Watford City, ND, & Cory (Nicolle) Hoppman, of Dubuque, IA; six (6) grandchildren, Cody, Alex, Jake, Hunter, Hayden & Olivia (she's on the way); his father, Lloyd Hoppman; Rick's special friend of many years, Brenda Metcalf; nine (9) siblings, Susan (Roger) Anderson, Sharon (Randy) Saffron, Tom (Peggy) Hoppman, Tim (Chris) Hoppman, Don Hoppman, Ann (Jim) Burke, Mike Hoppman, Gerry (Chris) Hoppman, and Karen (Keith) Knockel; his best friend, Chuck Kerstein; former wife, Debbie (Bruce) LeGrand; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Hoppman; a brother, David; his grandparents, Philip & Genevieve Hoppman and Peter & Martha Duehr; a grand-dog, Kallie; his in-laws, Justin & Doris Donovan; and many aunts and uncles.
A Rick Hoppman Memorial Fund has been established.
