Richard E. "Dick" Brimeyer, 81, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A/M on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque, IL, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.
Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2:30 P/M on Friday.
Dick was born in Dubuque, IA, on April 29, 1934, the son of Hubert I. and Isabelle (Riniker) Brimeyer. He married Susan (Molitor) Werner on April 4, 1975, in Nashua, IA. They later had their marriage blessed at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque.
Dick was employed as an engineer at John Deere Dubuque Works for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Supervisor's Club at John Deere, the John Deere Retiree's Club and was a lifetime member of Lacoma Golf Club in East Dubuque.
Dick was a loving husband and father, loved to golf, work in his yard, loved to travel with Susan, watch Western movies, listen to the "Big Broadcast" program on Sunday evenings on Radio Dubuque-KDTH, and watching birds with his best friend, "Missy" the cat.
Surviving are his wife, Susan; two (2) sons, Miles Brimeyer, of Buffalo, WY, and James "Jim" Brimeyer, of Hazel Green, WI; three (3) grandchildren, Tana, Jessica, and Jennifer; seven (7) great-grandchildren; six (6) siblings, Mary Simon, of Davenport, IA, Betty (Clemie) Pins, of Epworth, IA, Hubert "J.R" (Rose) Brimeyer, of East Dubuque, IL, Janet (Paul) Reiss and Paul (Kay) Brimeyer, both of Dubuque, IA, and Barb (Lyle) Kramer, of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Isabelle; his siblings, Joseph Brimeyer, Marguerite Brimeyer, Florence Simon, Anna Mae Powers, Bill Brimeyer and Helen Brimeyer.
