Pearl L. Rosemeyer, 96, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, at Ahva Living, in East Dubuque.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, in East Dubuque, with Pastor Crystal Weber officiating. Burial will follow in the East Dubuque Cemetery. The Miller Funeral Home of East Dubuque is assisting the family.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
Pearl was born on July 7, 1928, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of George M. and Louise (Lucy) Hamilton. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Francis R. Rosemeyer, on August 12, 1950, at St. Mary's Church, in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2024.
She was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, the Class of 1946, and a 1950 graduate of the University of Dubuque with a major in Sociology and English, and a minor in Psychology. She was a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority at UD, and also served as a Past President. Pearl was employed at the Dubuque Packing Company for 32-years in the Bacon Department and a former member of the UFCW Local # 150A. After her retirement, she became a contributing writer for the East Dubuque Register, where she wrote "Personal by Pearl", and later wrote for the Galena Gazette.
She was a lifetime member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and served on various boards and committees, a member of the East Dubuque Library Board, Gramercy Park Board, and the East Dubuque Flood Task Force.
Pearl enjoyed gardening, photography, and traveling to the nation's national parks and Europe. She was also an avid reader averaging 2 – 3 books each week.
Surviving are her two sons, Ross F., of Davenport, IA, and Neil G., of East Dubuque, IL; two grandchildren, Traci Rosemeyer and Leah Rosemeyer, both of Davenport, IA; a great grandson, Parker; and sister, Barb Hammel, of Dubuque, IA; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Louise; her husband, Francis; a son, Anthony "Tony" Rosemeyer; and a daughter-in-law, Susan (Tollefson) Rosemeyer.
