Paul A. Donovan, 82, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at St. Raphael Cathedral, in Dubuque, IA, with Rev. Dennis Quint officiating.

Family and friends may call from 3 – 7 p.m., on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque.

Paul was born on March 25, 1942, near Bernard, IA, the son of Ignatius L. and Mary L. (Johnson) Donovan. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Garryowen, the Class of 1960. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Liz" Feipel, on January 8, 1972, at Sacred Heart Church. Paul was employed at the John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 2001. He loved playing a good game of euchre and was a member of U.A.W. Local # 94 and the John Deere Retirees.

Surviving are his wife, Liz; four children, Paul J. (Hollie) Donovan, of Dubuque, IA, Mary Kay (Josh) Oleson, of Dubuque, IA, Ryan (Gina) Donovan, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Patrick (Anna-Louise) Donovan, of Brisbane, Australia; 12-grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Adlyn, Cole (Laurie), Ella, Gavin (Nicole), Emilee (Seth), Antonio (Erin), Jace, Lennon, Wilhelmina and Josephine Elizabeth; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dorrance, Grace Beschen, Kenneth, Justin, Merlin, and Ronald.

Liz and family wish to give thanks to the nurses and staff at 5th floor Finley Hospital, and Hospice of Dubuque, for the special care given to Paul and hisfamily.
