Patrick J. Splinter, 56, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away Thursday morning, December 21, 2017, at his home, following an extended illness.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, and from 9 A/M to 10 A/M, on Thursday, December 28, 2017,at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 3:30 P/M, on Wednesday.
Pat was born June 14, 1961, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Frederick T. and Marilyn A. (Runde) Splinter. He was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, Class of 1979. Pat was formerly employed as a mechanic and driver for the Jo Daviess County Workshop, a driver for Tri-State Travel, both in Galena, IL, worked on the Splinter family farm, and most recently was an inventory specialist at the Heritage Center, for the University of Dubuque.
Pat loved to work on cars, especially Chevrolet's. He enjoyed being with his friends, was an avid euchre player and a Chicago Bears fan.
Surviving are his parents, Fred and Marilyn Splinter, of East Dubuque, IL; his siblings, Joe (Kitty) Splinter, of Hanover Park, IL, Steve (Vicki) Splinter, of Virginia Beach, VA, John (Barb) Splinter, of Hazel Green, WI, and Sue (Rich) Conlon, of Durango, IA; nieces and nephews, Rachael & Marissa, Katie, Chuck, Zach and Sarah, Conor, Luke and Kaley, and Sam and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Agnes (Puls) Splinter, and Alfred and Irene (Cullen) Runde; his nephew, John Thomas Splinter; and his uncles, Paul J. Runde and Eugene Splinter; and aunts, Rosalyn Apel and Marie Splinter; and cousins, Christopher Splinter, Dennis Splinter, and Alan Apel
A Patrick J. Splinter Memorial Fund has been established.
