Mrs. John (Mona M.) Rowell, 57, 200 Thomas Avenue, East Dubuque, IL, died at 5 A/M, Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, IL, with the Rev. James Parker officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque, IL Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 P/M to 7 P/M, Friday, September 14, 2012, and from 9 A/M to 10:30 A/M, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, where the Parish Scripture Service will be at 2 P/M, Friday. Members of the East Dubuque Fire Department will meet at 5 P/M, Friday, at the Funeral Home.
Mona was born in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Merlin J. and Marlene H. (Meister) Soat. She was a graduate of East Dubuque High School, class of 1974. She married John R. Rowell on August 22, 1981, at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque.
Mona was formerly employed as a Secretary at Four Mounds, Dubuque, IA, and worked as a receptionist at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA, and for Medical Associates, Dubuque, IA.
She was formerly a Girl Scout Troop Leader for Troop #157. Mona enjoyed knitting, crocheting, working with her flowers, but most important in her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, John; two daughters, Crystal (Nick) Reuter, East Dubuque, IL, and Tia (partner, Justin Wedig) Rowell, Dubuque, IA; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Devon, Taylor, Blake, Aly, Bella, Bryce, and a grandson due in January, 2013; a sister, Monica (Dan Williams) Soat, Viroqua, WI; a brother, Merle (Nancy) Soat, East Dubuque, IL; also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mark.
In lieu of flowers, a Mona M. Rowell memorial fund has been established.
John, Crystal, and Tia, would like to extend a special "thank you" to Joann from Medical Associates, Dr. Mark Moore, Dr. Scott Brock, and Dr. Preeti Joseph, the staff at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab, and Hospice of Dubuque for the wonderful care provided to Mona.
