Obituary

Mildred C. "Millie" Rosemeyer, 89, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 11 P/M, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be at 11 A/M, Monday, January 27, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be at a later date at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque.

Friends may call from 9 A/M to 11 A/M, Monday, January 27th, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque.

Millie was born on January 18, 1925, near Dyersville, IA, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Ploessl) Burlage. She was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Rosemeyer, on October 15, 1947, at Holy Trinity Church in Dubuque, IA. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2007.

She was formerly employed for many years in the Bacon Department of the Dubuque Packing Company until her retirement. Millie was a former member of Local 150-A of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union, and a member of St. Mary's Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society.

She was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Galena Golf Club, and was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Millie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Patty) Rosemeyer, of Dyersburg, TN, and David (Cathy) Rosemeyer, of Dubuque, IA; Six grandchildren, Chad Rosemeyer, Casey Rosemeyer and her husband, Lemi, Sean (Hannah) Rosemeyer, Nikki Breitsprecker & (Jesse Bernhardt), Lisa Rosemeyer, and Jeff (Mandy) Rosemeyer; Two step-grandchildren, Patrick Mahoney and Benjamin Mahoney; Three great-grandchildren, Lane & Tate Breitsprecher and Brody Rosemeyer; her in-laws, Joseph Rosemeyer and Francia (Pearl) Rosemeyer, both of East Dubuque, IL, and Rita Allgeyer, of Rapid City, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Baby Jan; a brother, LeRoy Burlage; and sisters, Cyrilla DeMuth and Bernice Baumhover.

A Mildred C. "Millie" Rosemeyer Memorial Fund has been established.

The Rosemeyer family wishes to extend "special thanks" to the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, the staff at Hospice of Dubuque, and to her neighbors and friends for their care and acts of kindness.
