Obituary

Michael R. Stillmunkes, age 36, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2025, at the University of Iowa Health Center, Iowa City, IA, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Mike was born on May 7, 1990, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Mark J. and Sharon R. (Grant) Stillmunkes. He was a graduate of Southwest Tech at Fennimore, WI and later graduated from WyoTech in Blairsville, PA as an automobile technician. Mike has worked at McGrath Chevrolet for the past 16 years where he continued his automotive education and became a GM Certified Master Technician.

Mike always went out of his way to be a good friend and helped anyone who needed assistance. Mike was an organ and tissue donor, even in his passing he continued to give of himself and help save lives.

Mike’s joys in life were his family, his fur-babies, helping others, working on cars, gardening and riding and driving outdoor recreational vehicles.

Surviving are his parents, Sharon (Tom) Harris and Mark (Karla Reuter) Stillmunkes; brothers, Joshua Haupert and Matthew Lee; sister, Kelsey (Jamie) Schroeder; step-sisters, Sara Harris and Angel Reuter; foreign exchange sister, Kea (Christian) Mueller; nieces, Alexis Haupert, Aubrey & Addy Schroeder; nephews, Peyton Schroeder and Hayden & Avery Mueller; his fur babies, Sir Copo and Miss Yenko (Yennie); his amazing McGrath Chevrolet family, and his best friend Jake Doyle.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray & Jenanne Grant, Raymond & Isabelle Stillmunkes; uncles, Russell Grant and Randy Stillmunkes; and stepbrother, Austin Reuter.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, IL, where a funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, with Pastor Crystal Weber officiating.
