Obituary

Meredith D. Glasgow, 82, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Dubuque, IA.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A/M, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Scales Mound United Methodist Church, with Pastor James Friesen and Rev. Patricia Allen-Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Scales Mound Township Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Scales Mound, and after 9:30 A/M, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the church.

Meredith was born on February 26, 1931, near Apple River, IL, the son of Foster D. and Alberta (Cook) Glasgow. He graduated from Scales Mound High School. On February 24, 1951, he married Verna Harris at the Scales Mound Presbyterian Church.

Meredith was a lifetime farmer. He was also employed at the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department from 1968-1986, retiring as Lieutenant. He later worked for nine years for the Jo Daviess County Maintenance Department.

Meredith was a member of the Scales Mound Lions Club and BPOE, Lodge #882, of Galena. Meredith was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed the RFD TV station. A very important part of his life was time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his trips to Scales Mound for morning coffee, and watching for the baby calves in the spring.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Verna; a daughter, Diana (Don) Bagby, and son, Michael, of Dubuque, IA; a son, David (Patti) Glasgow, of Scales Mound, IL, and children, Amber (friend, Brandon), Brooke and (Chris) Mezo, and Blake Glasgow (friend, Amanda); granddaughter, Brittani Redfearn (friend, Jon); seven great grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Glasgow, of Scales Mound, IL; a sister, Lorraine Gaude, of Dubuque, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Meredith was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Redfearn; a granddaughter, Tracy Glasgow; a brother, Foster Glasgow; and a sister-in-law, Bev Glasgow.

Meredith's family would like to thank Dr. Vandigo and Paula, Dr. Ringold, Dr. Moore, Hospice of Dubuque, especially Ann, and the staff of Heritage Manor for their compassionate care. Also to the many friends and family who visited him and gave him rides.
