Mary C. "Kate" Temperley, 82, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 3:45
A/M, Friday, July 12, 2013, at Oak Park Place, Dubuque, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 3:45 P/M.

Kate was born in rural East Dubuque, the daughter of John N. and Rosalie (Rierdon) Leibold.

She married Ronald G. "Pete" "Whitey" Temperley on July 12, 1952, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque. Kate was reunited with Pete on what would have been their 61st wedding anniversary. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1997.

She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. Kate was formerly employed at the East Dubuque Savings Bank and the Dubuque Visiting Nurses Association. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Kate was an avid baseball and swimming fan, who enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and the Dubuque Dolphins. She loved attending all sporting events for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and loved being outdoors.

Kate loved to bake, cook, and have a house full of people to feed. She enjoyed playing dominos, and having a good game of euchre with her lady friends. Kate also donated her time in the library and lunchroom at St. Mary's School.

Surviving are a daughter, Cathy (Mike) O'Neill, of East Dubuque, IL; three sons, Rick Temperley (Diane Walsh), of Potosi, WI, Donnie (Mardi) Temperley, of Austin, MN, and Dan "Boomer" (Cindy) Temperley, of East Dubuque, IL; seven grandchildren, Erin (Nikita) Postovalov, Nathan (Jessica) O'Neill, Shannon O'Neill (fiancee, Brian Pape), Kali & Lexi Temperley, and Tabetha & Tim Temperley; three great-grandchildren, Lucas & Amelia Postovalov, Ellery O'Neill; four brothers, John H. Leibold, Jim (Mary Lu) Leibold, and Paul (Mary Jean) Leibold, all of East Dubuque, IL, and Val (Goody) Leibold, of Aurora, CO; three sisters, Margaret "Mag" Buse and Alice (Don) Pettit, both of Dubuque, IA, and Sheila (Jim) Meyer, of Dyersville, IA; in-laws, Ardelle "Toots" Leibold, of East Dubuque, IL, Elaine (Denny) Rath, of Dubuque, IA, Bob Schmitt, of Denver, CO, Jim "Doug" (Velda) Temperley and Gerald "Pud" (Pat) Temperley, both of East Dubuque, IL; and Sheila (Roger) Crapp, of Longmont, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Linda Leibold, Helen Droessler, and Roseann Schmitt; two brothers, Peter Leibold and Philip "Flip" Leibold; two brothers-in-law, Ed Droessler and David Buse; and her sister-in-law, Carol Leibold.

In lieu of flowers, a Mary C. "Kate" Temperley Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to give "special thanks" to the staff at Oak Park Place and Hospice of Dubuque for the excellent care provided to their Mom.
