Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Sheehan, 89, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away, on Sunday evening, September 4, 2016, at home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 A/M, on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, on Friday, September 9, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 2:45 P/M, Friday. Friends and family may also call from 9 A/M to 9:45 A/M, on Saturday, at St. Mary's Church.

Mary was born on December 18, 1926, in Bellevue, IA, the daughter of George and Susan (Till) Zimmer. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, in Bellevue, Class of 1945. Mary was united in marriage to Thomas E. Sheehan, on February 19, 1949, at St. Patrick's Church, in Dubuque, IA.

She worked together with her husband, Tom, at Sheehan's Shell Station and Sheehan Insurance, both in East Dubuque. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society.

She loved bowling, golfing, cooking, their winter trips to Texas and traveling in general. Mary enjoyed time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Mary was very devoted to her faith.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Sheehan; four (4) children, Daniel E. (Donna) Sheehan, David G. Sheehan, Debra A. Heitkamp, and Denise M. Sheehan, all of East Dubuque, IL; fourteen (14) grandchildren, Tom (Lynn) Sheehan, Tina (Scott) Diercks, Terri (Steve) Ludwig, Tony (Stacy) Sheehan, Tonia (Jamie) Sieverding, Tim Sheehan, Tracy (Adam) Lange, Troy Sheehan, Dr. James (Carolyn) Sheehan, Kelly (Nick) Stubbe, Rob (Amy) Sheehan, Keri (Brian) Gockel, Chelsea (Spencer) Kirschbaum and Elise Sheehan; a grandson-in-law, Greg Weiland; twenty-six (26) great-grandchildren; two (2) sisters-in-law, Clara Zimmer, of Dubuque, IA, and Sister Miriam T. Sheehan, OSF, of Milwaukee, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five (5) children in infancy; three (3) grandchildren, Todd, Tiffany and Infant Sheehan; and great-grandchildren, Joseph Sheehan, Babies Gockel, Baby Sheehan, Baby Sieverding and Baby Stubbe; siblings, Adella (Mike) Remakel, Isadore (Louise) Zimmer, Vincent Zimmer, Sylvester "Dolly" Zimmer, Florence (Carl) Flogel and Mary Margaret Zimmer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oswald and Elizabeth Sheehan; her in-laws, Mary (Vern) Hutchcroft, Cletus (Eugenia) Sheehan, Clifford (Marie) Sheehan and James (Delphine) Sheehan.

Tom and family wish to extend "special thanks" to the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center, especially the ER Department, ICU, 3-West, and Hospice of Dubuque, for the excellent care given to their Wife and Mother.
