Mary Gertrude (Richard) Donar, 88, of Menominee, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Nativity BVM Catholic Church, in Menominee, with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be at Nativity BVM Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:30 P/M to 7:30 P/M, on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, IL, where the parish and St. Ann's Society rosary will be recited at 3:15 P/M, on Friday, and from 9:30 A/M to 10:15 A/M, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Church.
Mary was born on April 12, 1929, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of William and Edith (Lippe) Richard. She was united in marriage to Leo N. Donar, at Nativity BVM Church, Menominee, on February 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2004.
Mary was proud of her role as a farm wife. She loved arts and crafts, especially sewing, and to cook and can garden produce. She dedicated her life to helping her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a volunteer at the Nativity BVM Church and School and a former member of the Galena Kiwanis Club. She worked a short time in the cosmetic department at Roshek's, Dubuque, IA, and later in life at craft and antique business.
Surviving are five (5) children: Theresa (Lewis) Riniker, of rural Galena, IL, Linda (Donald) Stierman, of Toledo, OH, Brenda L. Vickerman (Ron) Donar, of Cuba City, WI, Daniel (Mary Kay) Donar, of rural East Dubuque, IL, and Lee (Vickie) Donar, of rural Hazel Green, WI; thirty-one (31) grandchildren/step-grandchildren; sixty-four (64) great-grandchildren/step great-grandchildren; one (1) great-great-grandchild; brothers, William Richard and Edward Richard; sisters, Ruthann Winger, Carole (Bob) Bussan and Judy (Ron) Anger; sisters-in-law, Marie Donar and Nancy Richard (Peter) Spray; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; her in-laws, Henry and Theresa (Bishop) Donar; three (3) brothers, Daniel, David and George; a granddaughter, Rebecca Riniker; and great-granddaughter, Alazaya Vickerman; three (3) brothers-in-law, John, Clement and Nicholas Donar; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Donar, Mary (Roesph) Richard, Catherine (Stewart) Richard and Sandralee (Pfeiler) Richard.
Mary's family "thanks" Hospice of Dubuque, especially Chris, for the wonderful care given to Mom and for the support and counsel provided to our family during her final days.
