Obituary
Martin A. Roth, 85, of Dubuque, IA passed away at 3:10 P/M, Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.
Funeral Services will be at 11 A/M, Monday, November 12, 2012 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 14th & Main Street, Dubuque, IA with Rev. Kathleen Milligan officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, IA where military honors will be accorded by members of Dubuque Post #6 American Legion.
Friends may call from 2 P/M to 7 P/M, Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL.
Martin was born on November 14, 1926 in Dubuque, the son of Ervin and Dorothy (Bollen) Roth. He lived with his grandparents, Martin & Cora Bollen in Dickeyville, WI until he served in the US Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict.
On September 18, 1954 he married Gerri Williams. Together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
Martin worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for 32 years. After his retirement he worked for the City of Dubuque until his health began to deteriorate. He was a loyal member of UAW Local #94 and Dubuque Post #6 American Legion.
Martin loved gardening, fishing and hunting. He was awarded "Best of Class" for his beautiful marigolds from the Tri-State Garden Club.
Surviving are his wife, Gerri; daughter, Cheryl (Dave) Schmitt, Washington, IA; and son, David (Karen) Roth, Dubuque, IA; grandchildren, Marissa (Tony) Dietzenbach) Schmitt, Michael (Lisa) Schmitt, Molly (Neil) Weston, Matthew, Jacob and Samuel Roth, and his faithful dog, Daisy.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, granddaughter, Kaitlin Roth, and brothers, Merlin and Milton Roth.
A Martin A. Roth Memorial Fund has been established.
Martin will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
