Mark S. Rosenthal, 64, of Galena, IL, passed away at 2:15 A/M, Thursday, February 20, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, IA.

Funeral Services will be at 10 A/M, Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, with Rev. Dennis Hill officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena, where military honors will be accorded by members of V.F.W. Post #2665 and the Galena American Legion.

Friends may call from 1 P/M to 5 P/M, Sunday, February 23rd, and after 9 A/M, Monday, February 24th, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena.

Mark was born on June 13, 1949, at Dubuque, IA, the son of Donald and Carol (Buman) Rosenthal. He was retired from John Deere Dubuque Works, where he was employed as a draftsman. He was a member of Galena Elks Lodge #882, a retired member of the Galena Volunteer Fire Department, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2665, and a member of the Galena American Legion Post. Mark was a veteran of the Army serving during Vietnam.

He enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, being outdoors, and loved watching the birds.

Surviving is his daughter, Rachel (Brice) Johnson, of Dubuque, IA; three grandchildren, Adrienne, Cale and Caden; two brothers, Marty (Diane) Rosenthal, and David (Fran) Rosenthal, both of Galena, IL; and nieces and a nephew, Lara, Matt, Heidi and Amy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Carol; and infant twins, at birth.
