LeRoy L. “Buzz” Risley, 93, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center, Dubuque, IA.

Family and friends may call from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m., on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s Church, in East Dubuque, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Bosco Aruldoss officiating. Burial will follow at the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Buzz was born on June 28, 1932, in Dubuque, IA, the son of LeRoy S. and Bertha C. (Frick) Risley. He was a graduate of Loras Academy, Dubuque, IA, and a member of St. Mary’s Parish, East Dubuque.

Buzz was formerly employed at the Dubuque Packing Company, worked as a Truck Dispatcher, owned and operated the Hi-Ho Tavern in East Dubuque, was employed at the East Dubuque Post Office, and bartended at various bars and night clubs in the Tri-State area.

He enjoyed fishing and attending sporting events where he would video games for family and friends. Buzz enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks.

Surviving is his sister, Kay Bonifazi, of Unionville, MO; 13 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Schwendinger and Madonna Risley; brother, Rev. L. Thomas Risley; and close friend, Hazel Knaeble.
