LaVonne C. (Theill) Heitkamp, 83, of Menominee, IL, passed away at 6:55 P/M, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at her home in Menominee.
Due to pending weather conditions, the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 A/M, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, in Menominee, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in Nativity BVM Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 5 P/M, on Sunday, January 15, 2017, and from 9 A/M to 10:15 A/M, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish and St. Ann's Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 11:30 A/M.
LaVonne was born on March 14, 1933, in Menominee Township of Jo Daviess County, the youngest daughter of Wesley and Ida (Weydert) Theill, Sr. When she was a little girl her Dad gave her the nickname, "PeeWee" which stayed with her all her life.
She married James Heitkamp on October 3, 1953, at Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Menominee. They were blessed with sixty (60) plus years of marriage and six (6) children. Jim and LaVonne farmed the family farm until 1996.
LaVonne was a member of Nativity BVM parish all of her life. She was a member of the St. Ann Society, Nativity BVM school board, and past funeral dinner chairwoman. She spent countless hours quietly working at the church and school. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Isabella, #572, of Galena.
LaVonne was a devout participant in the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel. She was a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always put other people's needs before her own and lived a life caring for others.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her six (6) children, Joseph (Judy) Heitkamp and Michael (Laura) Heitkamp, both of Menominee, IL, Virginia (Terry) Holland and Mary Jane (Alan) Conrad, both of Scales Mound, IL, Paul (Beth) Heitkamp, of Rockford, IL and Mark (Stacey) Heitkamp, of East Dubuque, IL; twenty (20) grandchildren; seven (7) great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlene Hinderman, of Cuba City, WI; a brother, Mervin (Rosie) Theill, of Menominee, IL ; a brother-in-law, Carlisle Jacobi, of Cuba City, WI; a sister-in-law, Ruth Theill, of East Dubuque; and Jim's sister, Germaine Robinson, of Savanna, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Wesley and Ida Theill, Sr; her in-laws, Joseph and Irene Heitkamp; brothers, Wesley Theill, Jr. and twins, Charles and William, in infancy; sister, Merla Jacobi; a brother-in-law, Francis Hinderman; and Jim's family, Robert and Margaret Heitkamp, Mary Ellen and Ed Berning, Monica and Clarence Houtakker, and Hubert (Wimpy) Robinson.
LaVonne's family wishes to "thank" Diann Laity, Cindy Anderson, Trisha Cox, Diane Muchow, Stacy Bowman and Elly Bowman, for the exceptional, compassionate care you gave to our Mother. Because of your help, our Mother was able to stay living in her home where she was happy, safe, and comfortable. Without you we could not have done it.
