Kurtis J. "Kurt" Larson, 25, of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 4:10 P/M, Saturday, July 26, 2014, near Weldon, IL, following a swimming mishap.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Mary's Church, East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 P/M to 8 P/M, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, and on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 8:30 A/M to 9:45 A/M, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish vigil service at 2:40 P/M on Wednesday.

Kurt was born in Dubuque, IA, on August 2, 1988, the son of Ronald S. and Karen E. (Busch) Larson. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Grade School, in East Dubuque, Wahlert High School, Class of 2007, and Augustana College, in Rock Island, IL, where he received his B.S. degree in Biology. He was currently in his senior year at Midwestern University, Downers Grove, Illinois, in their dental program, where he was top in his class. Kurt had enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Kurt was very focused, smart and ambitious. He had a great sense of humor, loved to travel and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Kurt loved and participated in all sports. Kurt was known for his infectious smile and ability to spread happiness with those around him, wherever he was. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and classmates.

Surviving are his parents, Ron and Karen (Busch) Larson; his siblings, Kyle (fiancee', Amber Greene) Larson, of Dubuque, IA, Ryan Larson and Kari Larson, both of East Dubuque, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George & Lucille Busch; his paternal grandparents, Edward & Irma Larson; his aunts and uncle, Sister Ann Busch, SSSF, and Don & Carol Larson.

A Kurt J. Larson Memorial Fund has been established.
