Kris Ann Neenan, 71, of Dubuque, IA, and formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016, at home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 P/M to 7 P/M, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, where the parish rosary/scripture service will be at 3:45 P/M, Tuesday.
Kris Ann was born on December 30, 1944, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Robert J. "Bob" and Charlotte E. (Trannel) Neenan. She was a graduate of Wahlert High School, Class of 1962, and attended Clarke College, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Zenos Ultrasound School. She was formerly an auditor for Sears and a Radiologic/Ultra Sound Tech at Finley Hospital.
Due to renal failure in her early twenties, Kris received a kidney transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, on September 24, 1970. She went on to be the longest surviving recepient of a cadaver donor kidney. In 2002, she underwent a second kidney transplant at the University of Wisconsin, Madison hospital.
An avid reader since childhood, Kris worked as a librarian at both the East Dubuque Public Library and Dubuque's Carnegie Stout library. Kris was a "Mother" figure to many children, including her younger siblings, godchildren, cousins, and her nieces and nephew. She enjoyed movies, crossword puzzles, reading, public televison and the company of her friends, especially the dear girls from the "card club", friends for over sixty-five (65) years.
Surviving are a brother, R. Michael (Sandra) Neenan, of Fairplay, WI; three (3) sisters, Elyn (Paul) Schroeder, of Burlington, WI, Mary Beth (Tom) Ott, of Libertyville, IL, and Robin (Dennis) Nauman, of Oklahoma City, OK; nieces and nephews, Nik, Kate, Regina, Laura, Emily and Elizabeth; and a great niece and nephew, Charlotte and Cullen. She is also survived by an aunt, Bette Trannel, of Dubuque, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Charlotte Neenan; uncles and aunts, Darrell and Peg Hamel, Arthur L. Trannel, and Robert and Patricia Wild.
In lieu of flowers, a Kris Ann Neenan Memorial Fund has been established.
