Kimberlyn H. "Kim" Metcalf, 56, of 3613 Ponderosa Ct., Evans, CO, formerly of Peosta, IA, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the North Colorado Medical Center, in Greeley, CO, following complications of M.S.
A Memorial Service will be at 7 P/M, Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, with Pastor Linda Von Fumetti officiating. Friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Kim was born on May 6, 1956, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of James D. and Beverly A. (Chesterman) Metcalf.
She graduated from Northern Colorado University in Greeley. She worked for Federal Express as a ramp agent at the Denver Airport for many years. Kim was a "gifted" athlete and enjoyed all sports. She had a special love for the game of softball. Her team took second place in the United States in fast pitch softball in 1978. She was inducted into the University of Northern Colorado Hall of Fame in February, 2012. She trained with the Olympic Women's softball team and played semi-pro softball in Colorado for Law Equipment. Kim loved nature and especially the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Surviving are her parents, James and Beverly (Chesterman) Metcalf, of Peosta, IA; her siblings, Deb (Joe) Vize and James, Jr. (Rosanne) Metcalf, both of Peosta, IA, and Jeffrey A. Metcalf, of Brighton, CO; three nieces and five nephews, Erin (Bryan) Engler, Jolynn (Jim) Hefel, Ebony Metcalf, Gregory (Ashlee) Metcalf, Alexander, Tyler, Andrew and Dayon Metcalf; three great nephews, Joe R. Vize, Kayden Hefel, and Miles Metcalf; her aunt, Carol Chesterman, of Peosta, IA.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hazel and Dave Metcalf and Helen and Frederick Chesterman.
In lieu of flowers, a Kimberlyn "Kim" Metcalf Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the M.S. Society.
