Kenneth W. "Kenny" (Chew) Muchow, 91, of Galena, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community.
Funeral Services will be at 10 A/M, Saturday, July 12, 2014, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, in Galena, with Rev. Dr. Fred Baltz officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, rural Galena.
Visitation is from 4 P/M to 8 P/M, on Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, in Galena, and after 9 A/M, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the church.
Kenny was born in Galena on July 9, 1922, the son of Walter W. and Ardale (Nagel) Muchow. He married Marion (Vesper) Behlke on July 7, 1972.
He loved hunting, trapping, gardening, bowling and enjoyed homemade wine. He was formerly a member of the Oddfellows Club of Galena and St. Matthew Lutheran Church Council. Kenny was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation where he was a maintenance worker. Kenny previously drove bus for Schultz Bus Service, was employed at the Galena Lumber Company, worked for Harry Smith's Galena Locker Plant, was a bartender at the VFW Club, delivered flowers for the Galena Greenhouse and White's Florist, was formerly employed at Eagle Pitcher Mines and Kraft Foods in Galena, was formerly manager of Creslanes Bowling in Galena, and was a former road commissioner for East Galena Township.
Surviving are his wife, Marion; his six children, Chrystal "Dolly" (David) Hueneke, of Maquoketa, IA, Penny (John) Basten, and Butch (Connie) Muchow, both of Galena, IL, Bill (Diane) Muchow, of East Dubuque, IL, Howard (Cyndy) Muchow, of Galena, IL, and Bernie (Marilynn) Muchow, of Scales Mound, IL; seventeen (17) Grandchildren, Chris Stadel & Tammy Turner, Nikki Peebles, Matt Basten & Jolene Northrup, Jennifer & Jason Muchow, Renee Hartwig, Bill Jr. & Ryan Muchow, Kevin, Keith, Carissa, Alicia and Miranda Muchow, Nikki Nelson & Justin Muchow; twenty-eight (28) Great-Grandchildren; four (4) Step Great-Grandchildren; and seven (7) Great Great-Grandchildren; three (3) brothers, Ralph (Jean) Muchow, of Galena, IL, Ronald "Jim" Muchow, of Salt Lake City, UT, Larry (Ev) Muchow, of Winnebago, IL; two (2) sisters-in-law, Jean Muchow, of Galena, IL, and Kristy Vosberg-Muchow, of Hanover, IL; and many nieces and nephews; his Step-children, Vern "Butch" (Mary) Behlke and Barb (Jim) Korte, both of Scales Mound, IL, Keith Behlke, of Lena, IL, and Lynn (Darrell) Puls, of East Dubuque, IL; ten (10) Step-Grandchildren; and eighteen (18) Step Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Ardale; two brothers, Walter "Ace" Muchow and Charles Muchow; a sister-in-law, Cathy Muchow; and a great-nephew, Clint Sitzmann.
Memorials may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Alzheimers Foundation.
Kenny's family would like to give "special thanks" to the staff of Mercy Medical Center, Hospice of Dubuque, and the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community, for the care and compassion shown to Kenny and his family.
