Kathryn (Betts) Christ, 64, of Galena, IL lost her battle with cancer on December 30, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. She was surrounded by her family when she passed.

Kathryn made siginificant contributions to her community, the foremost was her work with Hospice in Iowa where she was instrumental in creating legislation around Power of Attorneys for hospice patients in the state. Kathryn continued her work as Director of Hospice for Bremer and Butler counties in the State of Iowa. She was very active as a Youth Director and Choir Director at St. Mary's in Waverly, IA. She was also a CCD instructor there. She was most recently employed at Longhollow Inn and was a partner in B & K Services with her surviving spouse, Brian Christ.

Kathy is also survived by her son, Stephen Betts, of Milwaukee, WI; her daughter, Amanda (Tim) Wand, of Galena, IL; and her youngest son, Adam Betts, of San Marcos, CA; one granddaughter, Kilee Johanna Wand, born March 15, 2012; sisters, Susan Reese, of Cary Grove, IL, Donna Jagielski, of Suffern, NY, Mary DiDomenico, of Sautee, GA; and a brother, John Jagielski, of Elgin, IL.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Jerome Jagielsi, of Dubuque, IA; and infant brother, Jerry.

Friends may call after 10:30 A/M, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL.

Memorial Services will be at 12 Noon, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Parker officiating.
