Joan M.Lincoln, 64, of Galena, IL, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016, in the comfort of her home.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A/M, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Home, in East Dubuque, with Pastor Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Visitation will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where family and friends may call from 3 P/M to 7 P/M, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, and from 9:30 A/M to 10:15 A/M, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
She was born on June 23, 1952, in Cuba City, WI, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Flynn) Engel. Joan graduated from Galena High School, Class of 1970. She was united in marriage to Douglas Lincoln on July 9, 1976. She was a member of Galena's Westminster Presbyterian Church. Joan was also active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as President for twelve (12) years, and as secretary for two (2) years. Joan truly enjoyed her job and co-workers at the Jo Daviess County Circuit Clerk's office. After twenty-eight (28) loyal years she retired early due to her health. She enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting, canning, baking, wine, and road trips on a beautiful fall day. Her greatest joys were her five (5) grandchildren. She loved reading and playing with them, doing crafts, and watching them play sports. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will best be remembered by family and friends for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and her kind heart.
She is survived by her husband, Doug; son, Todd (Jess) Lincoln, of Galena, IL; son, Adam Lincoln, of New Orleans, LA; her daughter, Kristi (Josh), of Warren, IL; her grandchildren, Gavin, Jack and Sophie Leverton, of Warren, IL, and Olivia and Emme Lincoln, of Galena, IL; her sister, Rose (Don) Imbus, of Menominee, IL; brother, Paul (Cheri) Engel, of Hazel Green, WI, brother, Leo Engel, of Lombard, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Lou) Spannagel, of Janesville, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Hannaman; sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Bill Krocheski.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank-you" to Dr. Gordon, Dr. Janes, Dr. Crist, Dr. Holm, many caring nurses at Mercy Hospital and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jennifer and Ryan, for all of the compassionate care given to Joan. A "special thank-you" to many family members and dear friends for all their kind acts. God bless you all!
