Joan (Ostert) Bailey, 77, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on Saturday 6, 2014, at the Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.
A Memorial dinner will be served from 11 A/M to 3 P/M, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dubuque.
The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, is assisting the family.
Joan was born on December 11, 1936, in Clay Mills, IA, the daughter of Louis & Beulah (Dague) Ostert. She married Richard "Dick" Bailey on February 6, 1952, in Iowa City, IA.
Joan was formerly employed as a bus driver for the Dubuque Community Schools and also worked as a clerk for Walgreen's at Kennedy Mall. She was a fantastic bowler, loved reading, playing cards and dominos', and enjoyed being with family and friends.
Surviving are three (3) children, Danny (Ruth) Bailey, Laura (Dan) Ludowitz and Joyce Carter, all of Dubuque, IA; three (3) grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Cauthen, of Misawa AFB, Japan, Holly (Shawn) Joshi, of Mountain House, CA, and Ty Bailey, of Dubuque, IA; six (6) great-grandchildren, Trinity, Cameron & Gloria Cauthen and Jalen, Jai and Aja Joshi; her siblings, Dick (Sue) Ostert and Lois Ostert, both of Maquoketa, IA, Dina (Larry) Pickel, of Potosi, WI, Patty (John) Piper and Jim (Becky) Ostert, both of Dubuque, IA, Judy (Larry) Marcue, of Hazel Green, WI; a sister-in-law, Jean Ostert, of West Union, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and special life-time friends, Barb Hackbarth & Cora Thiltgen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard "Dick" Bailey; and a brother, Bob Ostert.
In lieu of flowers, a Joan Bailey Memorial Fund has been established.
Joan's family would like to extend a special "thank-you" to the staff at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab and Hospice of Dubuque for the special loving care that Joan received.
