Jerry was born on February 16, 1944, in Shannon, IL, the son of Aaron D. and Helen M. (Heidt) Lopp.  They moved to Veta Grande Road, rural Scales Mound, in 1955.  Several years later his family purchased the old Cheese plant in Scales Mound and turned it into their home.

In 1962,  Jerry entered the Marine Corps, and in September of 1962, he married Bonnie Heidenreich, of Apple River, IL.  They were married for fifty-five (55) years and had three (3) daughters, Penny, Becky and Jami.

Jerry worked on farms, in the Galena mines, was a supervisor at Structo, in Freeport, IL, worked for Dave's Body Shop at Warren, IL, and Platteville, WI.  Eventually he bought the old firehouse in Scales Mound, turning it into his own body shop.  Later he built a new shop behind his home.  He retired from the body shop after twenty-two (22) years and he and Bonnie bought the Buckshot Bar and Grill.  They called it Pop-A-Tops Again.  Jerry, Bonnie, his girls and granddaughters ran the bar for thirteen (13) years, retiring in 2013.

Jerry loved to ride his lawn mower, and the last four (4) years he mowed his daughters' lawns and any neighbors who needed help, never taking any money, because he loved to mow.  Jerry also enjoyed the Casinos and lottery tickets.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Penny Bailey, of Maquoketa, IA, Becky (Daren) Reitz and Jami (special friend, Brian Busker) Lopp, both of Scales Mound, IL; ten (10) grandchildren; and ten (10) great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Patty), of Ft. Collins, CO, and Robert, of Scales Mound, IL; sisters, Karyl Schumann, of Elizabeth, IL, Judy (Harold) Glasson, of Galena, IL, and Susie (Dennis) Vondran, of Scales Mound, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Helen; brothers, Eugene, James and Lloyd; a sister, Connie; brothers-in-law, Ed Schumann, Eldon Heidenreich and Tom Crabb.

Jerry's family wishes to "thank" the nurses and staff from Hospice of Dubuque for their care and compassion!
