Jeanette M. (Schwendinger) Elliott, 66, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at home, following a courageous eight (8) year fight with esophageal cancer.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A/M, on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at St. Mary's Church, in East Dubuque, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 P/M to 7 P/M on Monday, August 3, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where the parish rosary will be recited at 1:30 P/M.
Visitation will also be from 8:45 A/M to 9:30 A/M, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Jeanette was born on May 17, 1949, in Dubuque, the daughter of Anthony and Norene (Schauer) Schwendinger.
She was employed at Mercy Medical Center as a sterilization technician. Jeanette was widely known for her cooking and baking. Her famous meals and treats were her homemade dressing or thick, awesome homemade noodles for her "magic make you better" chicken soup and her cinnamon rolls or cowboy cookies. She enjoyed gardening, a good game of euchre, working with her flowers, and loved watching and feeding the birds. Her main focus in life was her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two (2) daughters, Tammy (Mark) Welbes and Tonya (Jerry) Arensdorf, both of Dubuque, IA; her adopted daughter, Sue (Terry) Voss, of Dubuque, IA; eight (8) grandchildren, Sierra, Jesse, Dathan, Samantha, Jacob, Makiaya, Brayden and Abbey; a great-grandchild, Layne; her younger twin sister, Jannan (Tom) Knepper, of Dubuque, IA; half-siblings, Bill (Lori) Schwendinger, of Boscobel, WI, Michael (Helen) Schwendinger, of Victor, MT, Peter (Annette) Schwendinger, of Bedford, VA, Paul (Rachel) Schwendinger, of North Branch, MN, and Sarah (Terry) Freiburger, of Fremont, WI; her god-daughter, Sharlie (Teeder) Wynne, of Calgary, Canada; several uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews and very special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dad on March 10, 2014, Mom on May 17, 1949; and a son, D. J. Elliott, on July 17, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, a Jeanette M. Schwendinger Memorial Fund has been established.
Jeanette's family would like to extend "special thanks" to Dr. Christianb Schultheis, Dr. Roger Ott, Jr, Dr. Mark Runde, and the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque, especially Elizabeth, Peggy and Jenni for the wonderful care provided to their mother.
