Jason Scott Wanke, 35, of Waterloo, IA, and formerly of East Dubuque, IL, passed away at 5:16 A/M, Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A/M, Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, IL, with Fr. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 P/M to 5 P/M, Sunday, December 22nd and after 9:30 A/M, Monday, December 23rd, at the Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque.
Jason was born on July 27, 1978, in Dubuque, the son of Russell M. and Deborah J. (Lechnir) Wanke. He was employed at L.B.'s Bar and Grill in Waterloo.
He was a graduate of East Dubuque High School. Jason was an avid sports fan, whose favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved collecting baseball cards, playing video games, bowling, darts, and golfing.
Surviving are his parents, Deb (Dave) VanOstrand, of East Dubuque, IL, and Russell M. Wanke, of Dubuque, IA; a brother, Steven P. Wanke, of East Dubuque, IL; a niece, Grace Wanke; his grandparents, Adelaide Lechnir and Marilyn VanOstrand, both of East Dubuque, IL; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special friend, Jen Wells, of Waterloo, IA.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Lechnir and Wade VanOstrand.
A Jason Scott Wanke Memorial Fund has been established.
